Definitions:
1.- defined as an appellation of origin, as described in Article 3.2 of Decree-Law No. 228 of February 20, 2002 "GEOGRAPHICAL INDICATIONS" the geographical name of a country, a region or a place, which it serves to designate a product originating therein, where a given quality, reputation or other characteristic, is mainly due to its geographical origin, including natural and human factors.
Scope:
Article 2. This Regulation aims to establish control, administration, communication, protection and defense of Protected Designation of Origin (abbreviated DOP) and the remaining designations of origin for Cuban rum arise in the future as well as the creation of the Regulatory Council.
ARTICLE 3. This Regulation is applicable to the PDO, because it protects the rums produced in the national territory of the Republic of Cuba from raw materials obtained exclusively from sugar cane, as it pertains to those general provisions, whose primary characteristics are described in this Regulation.
ARTICLE 4. At the date of this Regulation, the Corporation Cuba Ron SA (hereinafter Cuba Ron) holds the right to use the DOP), registered in the Cuban Office of Industrial Property.
