With deep regret, Cuba Ron Corporation S.A. received the news of the death of the First Master of Cuban Rum, José Pablo Navarro Campa, a bulwark of all knowledge and heritage kept by the essences of sugar cane.
Navarro presented many ideas of vital importance so that current and future generations can continue the tradition of the best rum in the world -Cuban rum-, which, in his opinion, cannot be made outside of Cuba.
His work remains as a legacy, as the experience transmitted by his words in each event and discussion: "A master of Cuban rum has to dream the entire process, he must be a person of science, honor and a dreamer above all. If you don't know how to dream, then you mustn't try to be a master of rum".
His work in the Cuban Rum Industry includes a great variety of aspects that contributed into building an integrality that goes from sugar cane to finished rum; direct production to researching, projects, technical designs, projection of whole facilities; immediate decisions for production emergencies and the patient wait in completing the necessary aging; to guarantee the stability of a known rum and develop new rums due to market requirements; the care and classifying of spirits and rums in a rum factory and working alongside with all the rum companies in the country; the production requirements of pure alcohol up to the richness of the necessary mixtures in spirits and rums; providing a demanding economic result but also ensuring the stability of the quality of Cuban rum that still preserves the inherited tradition; never letting the urgent results of today affect the dream, and still guarantee tomorrow. A lifetime of learning and studying that he shared and even presented in national and international forums.
To fulfill our duty will be the best way to honor his legacy in all the years to come. We would like to convey our deepest condolences to his family, colleagues in the rum industry, co-workers, and friends.
