In the twenty-first session of this entity -held in the lounge 1930 National-Hotel the Chambers of Commerce of Spain and Cuba agreed on an annual work plan to strengthen economic and trade relations, as part of the trip made by the Spanish Secretary of State, Jaime García-Legaz, along with a delegation of more than one hundred companies.
"More than 20 years of work of the Committee have helped the positioning of Spanish businesses in our market, but it also means an important basis for the work already done by some Cuban companies in Spain," said Juan Gonzalez.
For its part, the general director of the Chamber of Spain, Immaculada Riera, said that her institution will participate in this new stage "to ensure that the close interconnection between the Spanish and Cuban companies is one of the key elements of the opening and integration of Cuba into the global economy. "
The Spanish Chamber will reactivate the Committee's action placing the island as a priority market in the Internationalization Plan of the Chamber elaborated each year in the European country. The meeting served to sign the Plan of Activities for the 2016-2017period, a list of 18 measures to enhance bilateral trade and business relations in the new period.
The Cuban section will coordinate and support the processing and development of investment projects of Spanish companies of goods and services, and will proceed to the identification of Cuban state companies interested in exporting to Spain, which have the support of the Spanish section.
The president of Cuba Ron SA said: "The work carried out by sections contributed to the celebration last year here of more than 10 business meetings and more than 40 custom programs for Spanish companies from different sectors".
He added that this year Spain will be present at Cuba Industry and FIHAV fairs, "events of great importance for the country and which generate new investment synergies. We reaffirm our commitment to contribute to this flow of dynamism and creativity already perceptible".
