On March 1 at Club Havana the first sale of Rum Santiago de Cuba 500 was made. its first buyer was the Italian Francesco Zegarelli.
The sale was made in the reopening, after an extension, of the Casa Habano cigar lounge and the opening of the My amigo Robaina gallery, property of the painter Nelson Dominguez, both in the club to the west of the city. The 18th Habano Festival was the ideal place for the singular first sale.
The evening began with the marriage of Corona Gorda cigar produced by Habano SA with Cubay Extra Viejo Carta Blanca rum. The marriage was presented by the Master of Cuban Rum Tranquilino Palencia Estruch and Juan Jesus Machin, a Habano sommelier. In the Master´s review the process for creating this extra old rum is unique in the world. The " center taste " as it is known among Cuban rum producers, coupled with technological processes cause that the color of this product is lighter than extra old traditional rums, here is its exclusivity. At the end of the night, 3 bottles of the so exquisite rum were raffled.
A new presentation of rum Santiago de Cuba 500 by the Master Tano marked the official start for the sale of this precious rum, which was conceived to honor the half millennium of the founding of the eastern villa. It was presented in two formats, one with the commercial kit with the price of 3000 CUC and one with the pyramid-shaped commemorative case priced at 5000 CUC.
A world exclusive made the Master Tano. In a sub cellar from Don Pancho winery, called Doña Elvira, in tribute to the wife of Don Emilio Bacardí, barrels will be saved with the line of Santiago rum the customer wants. With this possibility the customer may fill his bottle when he wants.
With all these initiatives quickly appeared the first buyer. An italian resident in Cuba, Francesco Zegarelli, then became the first buyer of Ron Santiago 500 in his commemorative version. The buyer said his favorite is the Santiago 11 years and 25, but he was very curious to know the 500.
