The Ministry of Tourism (Mintur), the Hotel Nacional de Cuba and Cuba Ron SA company were awarded the 2016 International Excellences, highly influential awards in the field of so-called leisure industry worldwide.
In the XXXVI International Tourism Fair, held in Madrid, the edition of these awards, created by the communication group Excellences, 37 institutions from the Island between, projects and personalities honored for their performance in fields of tourism, culture and gastronomy were included, highlights Prensa Latina.
According to the official website of the publication, the Cuban Ministry of Tourism deserved a distinction for the unprecedented growth, more than 17 percent in visitor arrivals in 2015, and gastronomic development in the private sector.
Among the winners of the Tourist Excellences Awards is the Hotel Nacional de Cuba, for its unique history and for being a symbol of hospitality in the country; while they recognized Cuba Ron SA for the rescue of traditions in the rum production nationwide.
From Wednesday, a Cuban delegation headed by Manuel Marrero, head of MINTUR, participated in the fair held in Madrid. Spain is one of the main markets for the island.
In this important event the largest of the Antilles presented news from its main destinations: Varadero, Trinidad, the northern keys of Villa Clara (Cayo Coco and Cayo Guillermo), Holguin and Santiago de Cuba, according to a statement from the agency.
Also in the Cuban stand, attendees could learn about the attractions of the city of Havana, home of the International Tourism Fair, FitCuba 2016, dedicated this time to Canada as guest country and culture as product.
Considered a leader in Latin America and the second largest worldwide in reputation, according to specialized media, the Spanish stock market becomes a meeting point for professionals interested in positioning their tourism benefits and strengthening links with tour operators and travel agents in the region.

En el ámbito de la XXXVI Feria Internacional de Turismo, que se realiza en Madrid, la oncena edición de esos reconocimientos, creados por el grupo de comunicación Excelencias, incluyó los de la Isla entre las 37 instituciones, proyectos y personalidades galardonadas por su desempeño en ámbitos del turismo, la cultura y la gastronomía, resalta Prensa Latina.
De acuerdo con el sitio oficial de la publicación, el Ministerio cubano del ramo mereció la distinción por el crecimiento, sin precedentes, superior al 17 por ciento en el arribo de visitantes en 2015, y por el desarrollo gastronómico en el sector privado.
Entre los ganadores de los Premios Excelencias Turísticas está el Hotel Nacional de Cuba, por su historia única y ser un símbolo de la hotelería en el país; mientras se reconoció a Cuba Ron S.A. por el rescate de las tradiciones en las producciones roneras a nivel nacional.
Desde el miércoles una delegación cubana, encabezada por Manuel Marrero, titular del Mintur, participa en la feria con sede en Madrid, en tanto España es uno de los principales mercados emisores a la Isla.
