During the XXXIII International Fair of Havana on November 4th it was made the officially presentation of the bottle of rum 500 Aniversario de Santiago de Cuba. The proposed rum by the corporation rum Cuba Ron SA had its premiere during a special dinner at the National Hotel.
The presentation was attended by leading executives of foreign companies based in the country as Carlos Acosta Baquero representative of the famous wines of Miguel Torres SA. Among the most important and indispensable of the event there were four of the magnificent seven Masters of Rum: José Pablo Navarro, Augusto César Martí, Julio Enrique Ayan and Tranquilino Palencia Estruch "Tano".
The latter, one of the main architects of the commemorative beverage, declared for this portal that the Santiago de Cuba 500 bottle is heir to an impressive cultural tradition, and which they dreamed of almost two decades ago when the seventh village born on the island reached its 485 years.
"We needed to make it different, novel because our city deserved it to offer it to Cuba. We had a consecutive string of seven generations of masters of rum since 1862 (practice initiated by Don Facundo Bacardí and other teachers), a very strong subjective burden of which I dare to say there is no equal in the world, "he added.
The drink was born in the cellars of the Don Pancho winery in city of Santiago. In the so-called Cuban Rum Cathedral, originated in 1921 with aged rums an "extremely aromatic according Tano-, from white oak barrels and mixtures of several" beautiful elixir was conceived. The range of rums Santiago has a vintage quality standard, however, the product released in the 1930 Hall of the National Hotel stands out for its lush and velvety taste.
Juan Gonzalez Escalona, president of Cuba Ron and Havana Club International also noted that the proposal assumes a very modern marketing project. Its aged basis responds to the legacy and wisdom of light rum, developed since the emergence of the main dome in the eastern city.
It constitutes more than 150 years of rum culture engaged by the company Cuba Ron in a single package: a diamond-like bottle. Only a few can enjoy the highest quality of this garment heir of the legacy of eight generations of rum artisans dedicated to the five centuries of the eastern empire. Its production will not exceed 1000 bottles a year, according to the unique characteristics of the product.
Rum 500 was introduced in July 2015 to mark the founding of Santiago de Cuba. However, its commercial version was presented at the fair with a glamorous image, which, according to Escalona protects itself "the biggest jewel that it is bottled in the history of Cuba. "
